Weekly Wrap Up – Term 2, Week 4

As another week at Santa Maria College draws to a close, there has been no shortage of opportunities for creativity, connection and learning across our community. From hands-on co-curricular sessions to collaborative classroom initiatives and energetic interhouse competitions, our students have continued to embrace each experience with enthusiasm and pride. 

Weekly Wrap Up Items:

Cook Ups: Tuesday’s Cook Ups co-curricular session was filled with delicious aromas as students worked together to make fresh pasta. The activity provided a wonderful opportunity for creativity, collaboration and the development of practical cooking skills in a fun and welcoming environment.

Makers Studio: Our Year 5 and 6 students showcased their creativity in Makers Studio as they designed and created beautiful flower collages. Through colour, texture and careful craftsmanship, the girls explored artistic expression while developing confidence in their creative abilities.

Years 7/8 Endzone: Excitement and house spirit were on full display during the Years 7 and 8 Endzone Interhouse Games. Students enthusiastically competed to earn valuable points towards the McAuley Shield, demonstrating teamwork, resilience and encouragement throughout the competition.

Year 9 Marine Science Showcase: The Year 9 Marine Science students have spent the past several weeks planning and delivering engaging marine science lessons for the Year 5 girls. Working in small groups, they explored fascinating topics including sea otters, luminescent sea squids, the Ningaloo Reef, turtle conservation and the incredible adaptations of sea animals. Through research, presentations and interactive activities, the students took great ownership of their learning while inspiring curiosity and excitement in their younger peers.

Year 11 ACCESS Presentations: Year 11 ACCESS students recently welcomed guest presenters Claudia, an inspiring makeup artist, and Diana, a passionate Zumba instructor. Their presentations introduced students to a variety of alternate career pathways and encouraged the girls to consider the many different opportunities available beyond traditional professions.
