Weekly Wrap Up – Term 2, Week 8

Year 7 SEEK7 Planning: Our Year 7 students have been working collaboratively during HASS and Science lessons to investigate issues relating to water use. Through research and critical thinking, they are developing innovative solutions that promote sustainable practices and responsible stewardship of this precious resource.

Fearless 5 Biodiversity Learning: The Fearless 5 students expanded their understanding of biodiversity, exploring the important role it plays in maintaining healthy ecosystems. Their learning encouraged a deeper appreciation for the interconnectedness of living things and the environment.

Interhouse High Jump: The Interhouse Athletics season is underway, with students taking to the high jump arena. It has been wonderful to see participants demonstrating determination, resilience and house spirit as they challenge themselves and support one another.

Eco Sisters Presentation: Members of the Eco Sisters co-curricular group shared their passion for sustainability through an engaging live presentation and demonstration for the Fearless 5 students. The session provided valuable insights into environmental responsibility and inspired students to consider how their actions can make a positive impact.

Outreach Mass: The Service and Faith co-curricular groups came together to celebrate our Outreach Mass, marking the conclusion of this year’s Winter Appeal. The compassion and service shown throughout the term in support of those experiencing hardship during the colder months has been truly inspiring. The success of this year’s appeal is a testament to the kindness, generosity and commitment of the Santa Maria community.

Fearless 5 Art Workshop: Students participated in a creative art workshop, producing realistic paintings of native Australian wildlife. Using plants sourced from around the College grounds as inspiration, they explored structure, texture and colour while developing a deeper connection to the natural environment.
