Weekly Wrap Up – Week 6 & 7, Term 2

Year 8 Drama: Our Year 8 Drama students have been busy creating Children’s Theatre performances designed to teach our Years 5 and 6 primary students important life lessons through the power of storytelling. This exciting project has also opened the door to a special connection with live streaming it to St Cecilia’s Year 1 class in Port Hedland. Through both live performances at Santa Maria and a live-streamed experience with St Cecilia’s, our students are discovering how theatre can inspire, educate and connect communities.

Punmu Bake Sale: Students supported the Punmu immersion experience through a successful bake sale, raising funds for the Year 12 students preparing for the upcoming trip. The initiative highlighted the generosity and community spirit that underpin this meaningful service opportunity.

Years 5 & 6 Mini Meet: Our Years 5 and 6 students enthusiastically participated in the Mini Meet, putting their athletics skills into action across a range of events. The day encouraged teamwork, perseverance and healthy competition while celebrating active participation.

Public Speaking Competition: Students from Years 10, 11 and 12 showcased their confidence and communication skills in a public speaking competition. Participants impressed audiences with thoughtful presentations, demonstrating poise, preparation and the ability to engage others through the power of their words.

Just Leadership Winter Appeal: Members of the Just Leadership co-curricular group began preparing and organising Winter Appeal bags for LifeLink. Through this hands-on service initiative, students are helping support vulnerable members of the community while putting compassion and social justice into action.

Fearless5: Over the past two weeks, students involved in Fearless5 have participated in a variety of engaging activities focused on leadership and personal growth. A highlight was a presentation from Principal Mrs Oaten, who encouraged students to think creatively about sustainability and how they can be more resourceful stewards of the environment.

Year 12 Halfway Day: Our Year 12 students marked the halfway point of their final year at Santa Maria College with a special celebration. The occasion provided an opportunity to reflect on their achievements so far while looking ahead to the exciting opportunities and milestones still to come.
