Weekly Wrap Up – Weeks 5 & 6, Term 3

Year 12 Retreat: Retreat offered our Year 12 students a precious opportunity to step away from the busyness of their final year and spend meaningful time together. Through reflection, conversation and shared experiences, the girls were invited to consider the journey that has brought them to this point and the relationships and values they will carry with them beyond Santa Maria.

Year 5 Swan River Colony Learning: Year 5 students welcomed Tamara Tucker from Yalkarang Consulting as part of their learning about the Swan River Colony. Through engaging storytelling, discussion and interactive activities, students explored Noongar life before colonisation and developed a deeper understanding of the impacts of colonisation from a First Nations perspective.

Book Week: This Book Week, we celebrated Symphony of Stories and the many voices, worlds and ideas waiting to be discovered inside a book. Across the College, students embraced the joy of reading and the power of stories to spark imagination, broaden perspectives and connect us with experiences beyond our own.

Year 6 Grandparents Day: Our Year 6 students were delighted to welcome their grandparents and grandfriends to the College and share a special part of their Santa Maria journey. Guests visited classrooms to explore the girls’ learning before gathering in the Cultural Centre for a beautiful Liturgy and morning tea, celebrating the important place grandparents and grandfriends hold within our families and community.

Science Week: This year’s theme, Seeds of Science: Nurturing Knowledge for All, came to life through hands-on activities across the College. From launching rockets and building hot ice towers to creating compostable seed paper, students tested ideas, investigated outcomes and experienced the excitement that comes from curiosity and discovery.
