Welcome to the New Head of Boarding

We are so excited here at the College with the announcement this week, that Tracy Webster is returning as the Head of Boarding for 2020.

We had a chat with Tracy after the announcement.

Why are you coming back to Santa Maria?
I loved working at Santa Maria and was here from 2002 until 2017. It is a community filled with supportive, kind and compassionate people. Santa Maria, as a Catholic Mercy school, teaches strong values to learn from and live by, while at school and after graduation. It is a place with an enormous heart, that is welcoming to all within its embrace.

What are you most looking forward to as Head of Boarding?
To live, enjoy and share life with all in the boarding community. Sharing the day to day life with boarders and their parents, the joys and laughs in each day and coming together and working closely with community members when a challenge comes along. Boarders are independent, resilient, supportive, strong and loving girls, who are great role models to all in the Santa Maria community and I look forward to learning from the boarders in my role as Head of Boarding.

What do you hope to give to the boarders as Head of Boarding?
I hope to foster a safe, supportive, caring and fun-filled environment where all (boarders, their parents and boarding staff) feel welcome and valued.

What have you been doing since leaving Santa Maria?
I have been Dean of Student Wellbeing at St Hilda’s.

What is something that most people donu’t know about you?
I think I can dance and sing better than I actually can!
I love riding my little motorbike around our friends’ farm. It is a joy to be out of the city, riding in the open spaces of the paddocks.

What is your favourite quote?
I have three:

  • Have courage and always be kind.
  • Love never fails.
  • God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

If you could sit down to dinner with one person, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
I would want to sit down to dinner with a loved one, a family member or a close friend to share time together reminiscing while enjoying simple food and making new shared memories.
