Winter Games Unleashes Competitive Spirit in Years 5 & 6
Term 2 brings with it the highly anticipated Winter Games, an event where our talented Year 5 and Year 6 students showcase their athletic prowess. These games present an excellent opportunity for girls to engage in friendly competition with other JIGSSA schools across various sports. The recently concluded Winter Games saw our girls’ teams battling it out in basketball, netball, hockey, and soccer, with each sport bringing its own set of thrills and triumphs. Year 5: A Day of Sporting Delights
On Wednesday, 14 June, our Year 5 students embarked on a thrilling journey of sportsmanship and camaraderie. The day-long event witnessed these young athletes eagerly participating in a round-robin style competition, allowing revel in the joy of healthy competition. For some, it was the first time they’d played their particular sport, giving it a go with much enthusiasm. The day culminated in a grand final that determined the ultimate champion.

Reflecting on the experience, Phoebe Serpentzis from 5.5 enthused, “I had an amazing time playing soccer. It was a great opportunity to bond with my friends and compete against other schools. Although we didn’t secure any wins, our team remained enthusiastic and eagerly anticipated the next round.”
Year 6: A Battle of Champions
The Year 6 students took centre stage over three consecutive Fridays, engaging in thrilling fixtures of their chosen sport. The grand final, held on Friday 16 June, showcased the girls’ remarkable talent and unwavering competitive spirit as they faced off against formidable opponents from JIGSSA schools. Netball, basketball, hockey, and soccer witnessed exhilarating contests that left spectators in awe.
