Women in Business Spread Christmas Cheer

We take pride in offering our students a co-curricular experience that extends far beyond the classroom. This week, our Women in Business group brought holiday cheer and entrepreneurial spirit together for a festive Christmas Market.

Students had the chance to showcase their creativity, business skills, and teamwork as they set up stalls to sell their handcrafted products under their unique business names.

The Mercy Walk was full of excitement as students donned Christmas hats and set up stalls with cheerful red and green decorations. The entire space echoed with the sounds of Christmas carols, creating a joyful atmosphere.

The girls presented a stunning array of products, including:

  • Handcrafted jewellery
  • Luxurious body products
  • Fragrant candles
  • Home-baked goods
  • Festive Christmas cards
  • Colourful lollies
  • Makeup bags and scrunchies
  • Custom keychains
  • Handmade Christmas ornaments
  • Stylish nail polish

The students poured weeks of effort into planning, creating, and marketing their products. From brainstorming unique ideas to sourcing materials and perfecting their sales pitch, every step was a learning experience in the art of running a business.

What made this market truly special was the opportunity for students to experience real-world business operations. They learned valuable lessons in profit and loss, pricing strategies, and customer interaction. Additionally, our innovative young entrepreneurs even extended their reach to staff members by placing items in the staffroom, offering the convenience of pre-orders.

This initiative exemplifies our College’s commitment to Learning for Life attributes such as initiative, problem-solving, and resilience. The Christmas Market was a platform for these young women to hone their business skills while embracing creativity and collaboration.

The Christmas Market reflected the spirit of community and the empowering environment at Santa Maria. It was inspiring to see students step up, confidently take on new responsibilities, and celebrate their achievements together. The experience not only built practical skills but also fostered a sense of pride and camaraderie among the students.

As the girls celebrated their hard work with laughter, Christmas tunes, and happy customers, they showed that they were business leaders in the making. With each event like this, we continue to nurture and empower our students to take on future challenges.
