Year 10 Study Review Session
The Year 10 boarding cohort met as a group this week with me and Rosa Speranza, Dean of Year 10. Together, we worked through the differences between Year 9 study, which was in a supervised environment and their current independent study routines.
I was very proud of the girls and the in-depth discussions they were having. Each of them was keen to improve their learning and learn how to know whether the study techniques that they use are actually effective. The girls were provided with a study skills booklet, which was developed based on the needs of the girls. Their needs were ascertained by speaking with the girls during Weeks 1 and 2 and asking what they felt their biggest area for support was. Parents can access the Study Skills Booklet here.
I will be speaking with each girl in Weeks 6 and 7, during their study time, to see how the session has supported the effectiveness of their learning.
This is what some of the girls had to say about the session.
The study information session was really helpful. Mrs Carmody and Ms Speranza talked to us about our study schedule and how we should prioritise to stop procrastination. I hope that by the end of the term I will be able to study better and more efficiently. Sarah Currell
I felt that the study session was very beneficial, helping us to maintain and further develop study skills now that we are doing our study in the boarding house. I enjoyed how laid back and casual the night was, with Mrs Carmody and Ms Speranza cracking jokes and laughing with us. Yet we learned a lot about a healthy study routine and about what kind of leaner we were. Tahlia Regan
