Year 11 ACCESS Students Prepare For Workplace

Our Year 11 ACCESS students will be commencing their Workplace Learning (WPL) placement next week. For many of the girls, this will be their first time entering the workforce!

To prepare and assist with their transition from school to the workplace, students participated in the College’s Work Ready Program.

Held over one school day, students engaged with guest speakers, who gave practical demonstrations around professional hair care, makeup, and appropriate dress attire.

The girls also dived into strategies around stress management, and even headed to the kitchen, where they learned how to prepare some practical lunch options!

“The day aims to provide students with information that is relevant to them commencing their work placements. They are able to make connections and ask questions of the industry speakers.”, says Maryanne Hughes, Head of VET, WPL, Endorsed Programs & ACCESS.

“Students loved the day and mentioned they felt far more confident about starting work.”, adds Maryanne.

We wish the girls the best of luck in their work placements. We are confident they will represent the College beautifully and put into practice all the skills they have learned!
