Making Memories at the Year 11 Social
There’s something special about seeing a year group come together away from the classroom, and Saturday night’s Year 11 Social was a wonderful celebration of friendship, connection and simply having fun.
Set against the waterfront backdrop of Fremantle Sailing Club, our Year 11 students arrived ready to enjoy one of the most anticipated events on their social calendar. With the sun setting over the water and plenty of excitement in the air, it didn’t take long for the evening to get underway.
Time to Celebrate
Students embraced the opportunity to dress up, spend time with friends and enjoy the occasion together. For many, the evening also marked an exciting first, the opportunity to invite a partner to a College social event. It added another dimension to the night, as students welcomed their guests and shared this special Year 11 milestone with them.
Between dancing and catching up, students enjoyed the delicious food served by the Fremantle Sailing Club team and made the most of an evening that offered a welcome chance to relax and connect outside the usual school routine.
Speaking about her highlight of the evening, Year 11 student Sophie said, “What made the night most memorable for me was the way that our whole year group really came together and bonded. It was so heartwarming to see the way everyone embraced one another and flooded them with compliments. After so much anticipation for getting dressed up, it was wonderful to see everyone be made to feel so special. Many memories were made on the dance floor with all our peers making it a truly amazing night!”
Celebrating Connection
While the Year 11 Social is always a highlight, it’s about more than the venue, outfits and dancing. It’s an opportunity for students to strengthen friendships, connect with others in their year group and create shared memories as they move through their senior years at Santa Maria.
Throughout the evening, our students brought a wonderful sense of fun and enthusiasm to the occasion while showing genuine respect and care for one another.
A Memorable Year 11 Milestone
The Year 11 Social is part of the shared experiences students will remember long after their school years have finished. From photos with friends to time on the dance floor, Saturday night offered many moments worth remembering.
Asked to sum up the evening in one sentence, Year 11 student Alicia said, “The Year 11 social was a special night where our year group came together to create lasting memories, celebrate our connections and enjoy a night filled with laughter, fun and friendship.”
Thank you to our staff involved in organising and supporting the evening, the team at Fremantle Sailing Club for their hospitality, and our Year 11 students for making the 2026 Social such an enjoyable celebration.
