The Year 12 Biology students visited the Zoo on Monday afternoon, to further explore concepts being studied including; homeostasis, evolution and conservation through captive breeding. They focussed on animals as case studies to highlight key features of the concepts being reviewed. The giraffe and elephant were case studies for homeostasis, primates were examined for mechanisms relating to evolution and the Western Swamp Tortoise was featured as an example of a species being conserved through captive breeding. It was a beautiful sunny afternoon and made for a really fabulous zoo experience.
