Year 12 BME students at Yo-Chi Fremantle learning about leadership and motivation strategies

Our Year 12 Business Management & Enterprise (BME) General students embarked on an excursion to Yo-Chi in Fremantle this week. This visit was a valuable extension of their classroom learning and an exciting opportunity to explore real-world business dynamics.

As part of their curriculum, the students learn various leadership styles and motivation strategies. This excursion was designed to complement their studies by providing practical insights into how these concepts are applied in a thriving business environment.

During their visit, the students had the chance to engage directly with Monique Kyling, the Multi-Venue Leader at Yo-Chi, WA, and April, the Assistant Venue Leader. Monique generously shared her expertise and offered a behind-the-scenes look at the management practices that keep Yo-Chi running smoothly. The students observed firsthand how effective leadership and employee motivation contribute to the success of the business.

We hope that this excursion sparked a newfound interest in business for our students and provided them with a memorable and enjoyable experience. Witnessing their enthusiasm and engagement was a highlight of the trip, reinforcing the value of experiential learning.

Student’s Reflect on the Excursion

“The thing that I found most enjoyable was getting the Yo-Chi, but also getting to ask the manager questions about Yo-Chi. I felt as though Monique was very passionate and informative in discussing how Yo-Chi is run. I found it interesting how they scout for new Yo-Chi locations. It was better than I thought. I didn’t think I would learn as much as I did. Charlie Adair

Learning about how they have made their business so successful and the strategies they put in place to increase staff morale was really interesting. Macie Brennan

Overall, the visit to Yo-Chi was a fantastic way to bring classroom concepts to life and foster a deeper appreciation for the intricacies of business management. We look forward to more opportunities like this to enrich our students’ educational journey.
