Year 12 Jewellery Design Students Sparkle in Artist Workshop
Our Year 12 General Design students have been diving into the dazzling world of mixed media jewellery as part of their project, All That Glitters. Over this semester, students will design and craft unique wearable art pieces that combine plastics, metals, beads and geometric shapes.
To introduce the girls to the project they had a little extra sparkle added to their learning experience. The class was thrilled to welcome renowned Perth jewellery and fashion designer Alister Yiap who ran an exclusive hands-on workshop. Alister, known for his bold, geometric designs and innovative use of materials, made him the perfect inspiration for our budding artists.



During the workshop, students had the opportunity to learn directly from Alister, exploring techniques, refining their design concepts, and experimenting with materials such as laser-cut Perspex. It was an invaluable experience that brought their creative visions to life and deepened their understanding of form, texture, and design storytelling.
From illustrations and ideation to media testing and final product development, our students worked through a comprehensive portfolio process that showcased their creativity, critical thinking and craftsmanship.
The girls are currently in the design phase of their pieces, and we can’t wait to see their final designs on display at the Year 12 Graduation Art Show.
