Years 5 and 6 Students Shine at JIGSSA Cross Country
After training hard throughout Term 3, our Years 5 and 6 students finally got their chance to race at the JIGSSA Cross Country last week. The new course this year was mentally challenging and an increased distance for our Year 5 runners. It was great to see that our athletes were ready for the challenge.Â
The Year 6 race started at a blistering pace, and our students kept up well to finish an excellent 4th place. Our Year 5s had some big goals for the carnival, and we were so excited to see them achieve these. The Year 5 team were second overall and only a few points off first place. A special mention to Emileah Steadman, who placed second and was recognised in the presentation ceremony.
A huge thank you to our wonderful coach, Lenna Rhodes (Year 9), who patiently and enthusiastically encouraged all runners throughout the season. She was an outstanding role model for our younger runners.
Congratulations to all who competed and trained with the team. Cross country sessions can be tough both physically and mentally, and we are very proud of those who participated in the season.
