Year 6 Students Take on the Summer Games
As summer is coming to a close, our Year 6 students marked the season with a day of sport, sunshine and spirited fun at the annual Year 6 Summer Games.
The Summer Games, is an event that brings together JIGSSA primary schools for a full day of sport, fun and new connections. Choosing between AFL, teeball, water polo and cricket, the girls began with a small clinic before heading into game play, where they could put their new skills to the test. It was a joyful way to celebrate the end of summer, with energy and enthusiasm on display from start to finish.
A Chance to Try Something New
For many students, the day began with the unfamiliar.
Each girl took part in a clinic before the games began, learning the basics of her chosen sport and building confidence along the way. Some arrived ready to dive straight in. Others were trying something completely new. What mattered most was not experience, but the willingness to have a go.
That is what made the day so special. Every student had a place to begin, and every student had the chance to grow.
The Importance of Participation
Of course, there was healthy competition throughout the day, but the Summer Games offered something deeper than results.
Students were encouraged to back themselves, support one another and keep going, even when a skill felt unfamiliar. A student giving something new a try. A teammate offering encouragement. A group of girls learning together, then stepping into the game with a little more belief in themselves than they had before.

Small Moments of Leadership
As the eldest students in the Junior Years, our Year 6s are already growing into their role as leaders. Across the day, that leadership appeared in quiet but meaningful ways, through words of encouragement, thoughtful gestures and the positive energy they brought to those around them.
Whether it was helping a teammate, welcoming someone new or offering support without being asked, the girls showed that leadership is often found in the small moments that make a big difference.
A Day to Remember
We are proud of the way our Year 6 students represented the College throughout the Summer Games. Their confidence, teamwork and enthusiasm were on display from beginning to end, helping make the day such a positive and memorable experience.
Thank you to all the helpers whose support ensured the day ran so smoothly, and to the students for embracing every part of the experience with such spirit.
