Year 7s Celebrate the Power of Relationships

Our Year 7 students have been learning all about the impact of relationships in Health, particularly on emotional wellbeing. The curriculum takes them through some important life skills, like recognising the benefits of positive relationships, practising effective communication, and even learning how to handle conflict in friendships.

Bringing Lessons to Life

To bring these lessons to life, the girls were given a very special task, invite someone special to spend a lesson with. It could be a parent, grandparent, sibling, or another loved one, anyone they felt played a meaningful role in their life.

A Special Time Together

During the lesson, students spent one-on-one time with their guest, shared activities they had planned, and read aloud a short paragraph about why this person is so special to them. It was a beautiful mix of laughter, stories, and heartfelt moments.

Voices From the Classroom

“I brought my sister. I enjoyed it because it was a great way for me and my sister to hang out and spend more time together, as I am a boarder and I don’t get to see my family that often. We played all sorts of card games and ate lots of snacks.” Charli

“I chose to bring my dad because I like spending time with him. I took him on a tour around the school and then we sat down, played card games, and talked. I enjoyed having one on one time with him to chat and have a laugh.” Ava

“I brought my mum, and we had a really fun time. We had a picnic with my friend Brooke and her mum. I brought the picnic blanket, cheese, and crackers! My favourite part was when we played Uno together.” Avery

A Celebration of Connection

This activity was a celebration of the relationships that shape us, support us, and remind us of the importance of connection. For our Year 7s, it was the perfect way to put their learning into practice in the most meaningful way possible.
