Year 9 Students Embrace Challenges On Year 9 Camp

The Year 9 camp has been a big highlight of the year for the students and staff who attended. The girls have enjoyed the camps, held last week and this week and running alongside the Transition Program.

It was pleasing to hear the positive comments from the Explorus staff with regards to our students. The girls enjoyed many adventurous activities and the opportunity to spend time with each other, establishing new friendships while strengthening old ones.

It was fantastic to see the girls embrace the many challenges put in front of them and witness them take responsibility for cooking their food, cleaning up and also navigating the group on hikes through the bush. It was lovely to hear the girls discussing aspects of camp, the low ropes, working out the way to the beach and the peace and darkness they experienced in the caves. There were also lots of positive comments about how each of the camp groups were coming together and forming closer bonds with each other. The care and encouragement they gave to each other, particularly at the high ropes course was also a highlight.

Thank you to the staff who attended the camps and supported the students, your energy and enthusiasm was very much appreciated. The camp was a really great experience with lots of new and fun activities. It was a good opportunity to have fun with new people that you wouldn’t normally spend time with. The opportunities that we got to step out of our comfort zones and overcome challenges like navigating and problem-solving helped us to grow together as a group. Elorah GreseleYear 9 Camp was a very enjoyable experience as we all supported each other and worked together as a team. The theme ‘Challenge by Choice’ allowed everyone to push themselves out of their personal boundaries knowing other students wouldn’t judge or put them down. The camp allowed us to form new friendships and bonds through the memories which will last forever. I’m most grateful for the opportunities we were given and will carry the skills I learnt into Year 10. Lily MorrisYear 9 camp was an amazing experience which gave us the opportunity to try new things. ‘Challenge by Choice’ was a theme spoken about during camp, allowing students to step outside of their comfort zone. This camp allowed all students to create new friendships and lasting memories. We were able to develop new skills along the way, which we will be able to use during Year 10. Amity TsagarisI thought that camp was an amazing experience for all the girls in Year 9. It challenged us with activities like abseiling down collapsed caves to participating in team activities like the low ropes. We all made lots of new friends and have made memories that will last a lifetime. Sophie Cowcher
