Year 9s Stepping Into the Spotlight at North Metro TAFE

Ever wondered what it is like to work behind the scenes in film and TV? Fifteen excited Year 9 Media and Marketing students got a taste of the action at North Metro TAFE in Northbridge this week. This Media Career Taster program was a hands-on experience that gave our students a glimpse into the fast-paced world of media.

From the moment they stepped into the professional television and film studio, the students were in awe. With cameras rolling and lights shining, they had the chance to experiment with industry-standard equipment and see what it takes to create magic on screen. They dived into different roles, from camera operator and audio technician to video producer and film editor, discovering just how much teamwork and creativity go into every production.

This experience was all about bringing stories to life. Whether they were behind the camera or learning how to edit footage, our students were fully immersed in the creative process. By the end of the day, they had a whole new appreciation for the hard work and skill that goes into film and TV production.

Melissa Marshall shared, “Seeing our students confidently embrace their roles in a TV studio after some hesitation showed them that they were capable of creating something amazing. It gives our students a chance to think about uncommon career paths and the many ways that they can get there.”

Thank you to North Metro TAFE for opening its doors to our students and to teachers Eden Carey, Leana Martin and Melissa Marshall. The day left a lasting impression, and we can’t wait to see where this inspiration leads them!
