Healthy & Hearty: Year 9 Power Bowls

Healthy food provides us with the nutrients and energy to develop and grow, be active and healthy, to move, play, work, think and learn.

Using their knowledge of nutrition, Year 9 Food Science students were to design and prepare a vegetarian rissole and nourishing power bowl, both delicious in flavour and aesthetically appealing!

Sometimes referred to as buddha or power bowls, these bowls are hearty, healthy, and filling dishes made of various greens, raw or roasted veggies, beans, proteins and a healthy grain like quinoa or brown rice.

It is a quick and easy meal focused around ‘power foods’ that are satisfying, packed with nutrition and many health benefits.

At the completion of the project, the girls each voted for who they thought created the best power bowl.

I think we can agree that all students nailed the brief… It was great to see the girls so proud and impressed with their results.

Very ‘Insta’ worthy!

We look forward to seeing what they cook up next time… no pressure ladies!
