Enhancing the Workweek: Santa Staff Treated to Taco Tuesdays

Here at Santa Maria College, we are always looking for new ways to boost morale, spark creativity, and bring our team together. That’s why our leadership team recently launched ‘Taco Tuesday’, a fun new initiative aimed at fostering more connection and community among our staff. For the first time, Santa Maria staff were treated to a joint lunch located in the boarders’ dining hall, ensuring space to accommodate all staff at one tine.

The initiative, introduced by Director of Community Relations, Margo Bastow, aims to foster a friendly environment, strengthening the sense of community and friendship within the staff.  We learn more below:

The Origins of Taco Tuesday

Taco Tuesday is just one of the many activities within our Thrive at Work initiative. This initiative is a direct result of our Strategic Plan 3.4, which aims to provide opportunities that establish us as a forward-thinking employer. It symbolises our unwavering dedication to cultivating a positive and thriving work environment.

Why tacos, and why the Boarding House?

We chose tacos because of their wide variety of fillings and toppings, catering to the diversity of our staffs’ palate and various dietary preferences. And let’s face it, who can’t resist the allure of a well-crafted taco?

Our boarders’ dining hall, with its spacious design, makes for an ideal venue to accommodate all of our wonderful team members. The ease of seating everyone is a significant plus, ensuring everyone can interact, network, and savour their meal without any hiccups. Plus, the conveniently located bain marie enhances the overall experience. It is also a great opportunity to get staff into our boarding precinct.

Looking Ahead: The Future of Taco Tuesday

Taco Tuesday is about more than just mouth-watering food; it’s about building a community, celebrating our collective spirit, and acknowledging our amazing staff.

We are thrilled to announce that Taco Tuesday is more than just a temporary tradition. The overwhelmingly positive response has inspired us to continue Taco Tuesday into 2024, with plans to host it twice every term. We are able to squeeze another Taco Tuesday gathering in on Tuesday 14 November – same time, same place.

Your feedback and enthusiasm fuel this initiative, and we can’t wait to serve up more delightful moments in 2024.
