Flashback Fridays: Have Your Say
Nostalgia. We all love it and crave it. Â
Of course, life is meant to be lived in the present, but the occasional flashback can do wonders for both our mental and physical wellbeing.
You may ask, how so?Â
Nostalgia reminds us of what and who is most important to us and helps us understand the meaning and purpose of our lives.
It brings us closer together. It makes us feel less lonely. It helps with anxiety, and it makes us feel warmer (literally).
The list of benefits goes on and on, so we thought, why not bring nostalgia to the Santa Maria College community?
With our past students, staff, and family members having such happy memories associated with the College, it made sense to hop on the ‘Flashback Friday’ bandwagon.
And so we did.
You may have seen some of our recent comparison posts, from the McAuley Building, to the Chapel, to our beautiful College landscape and grounds.
Or perhaps you spotted yourself in some of the throwback posts for Boarding Week.
The response we have received from these posts is overwhelming, with followers even requesting that we keep them coming (you know how the old saying goes… give the people what they want!).Â
In saying this, we would love for you to share with us any photos that you have from your time here at the College.
Whatever the images may be, we would love to share your wonderful memories with our College community. We may even recreate them.
If you could please send through your images by to [email protected] that would be greatly appreciated. If you’d like to know more or have any questions, feel free to the Community Relations Department on 6330 0371.
We encourage you to join in on all the fun as we look back on who we were as a College, and celebrate how far we’ve come!
Now, get those dusty photo albums out, and start browsing! We can’t wait to see what you come back with…
Combating The Attention Span Crisis In Our Students – Jennifer Oaten
It is no secret that attention spans have been steadily declining, especially among younger generations growing up immersed in digital technology. The average person’s attention span when using a digital device has plummeted from around two and a half minutes back in 2004 to just 47 seconds on average today – a dramatic 66% decrease over the past two decades.
