From the President: April 2024
Welcome to the April edition of the OGAÂ Blog.
I hope you’re all enjoying a wonderful Easter weekend and have had the opportunity to spend time with loved ones. If you are travelling over the break or for school holidays, I wish you a safe journey.
Last month, I was fortunate to attend the inaugural session of the Sisterhood Alumni Networking Series hosted by the College. Nicole Lockwood (Class of 1996) – Chair at Infrastructure WA (amongst many other things!) was the first speaker. It was a great evening and a fantastic chance to connect with alumni from a range of years. Thank you to the College for organising the evening, which I’m sure will be the first of many!
On behalf of the OGA Committee, we are looking forward to hosting some other events to allow more people the opportunity to catch up. You can keep updated through this blog, and also on the OGA Facebook page.
Until next time,
Gemma Varone (2009), President
Combating The Attention Span Crisis In Our Students – Jennifer Oaten
It is no secret that attention spans have been steadily declining, especially among younger generations growing up immersed in digital technology. The average person’s attention span when using a digital device has plummeted from around two and a half minutes back in 2004 to just 47 seconds on average today – a dramatic 66% decrease over the past two decades.
