From the President: June 2022

Welcome to the June edition of the Old Girls’ Association blog. It’s hard to believe we’re almost halfway through 2022.
 
After a couple of interesting years that have made it difficult to plan events, the OGA committee is very excited to bring back our much-loved movie night. You may have seen some information shared on the OGA Facebook page last week. It is being held on Wednesday July 20. You’ll find more information further down in the newsletter, or you can buy tickets here. We would love to see you there.
 

I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank our members for the support so far this year. Even something as simple as sharing your stories is so beneficial for us as a group and a great way to inspire the Santa Maria community.

Combating The Attention Span Crisis In Our Students – Jennifer Oaten

It is no secret that attention spans have been steadily declining, especially among younger generations growing up immersed in digital technology. The average person’s attention span when using a digital device has plummeted from around two and a half minutes back in 2004 to just 47 seconds on average today – a dramatic 66% decrease over the past two decades.
