Santa Maria Staff Thrive at Work

At Santa Maria College, as with most workplaces, the daily grind can make it difficult to find the time to meet with colleagues. Thanks to an initiative known as ‘Taco Tuesday’, held twice each term, the entire staff gathers to savour a Mexican-inspired lunch prepared by our catering team. Taco Tuesday forms part of our staff wellbeing initiative ’Thrive at Work’.

In a bustling educational environment where schedules can be tight and responsibilities demanding, Taco Tuesday provides a welcome respite – a chance for teachers and support staff to step away from their desks.

One of the most remarkable aspects of Taco Tuesday is its ability to foster cross-departmental interactions. In the relaxed setting of our boarders’ dining room, colleagues who might not ordinarily connect during the workday come together.

Taco Tuesday embodies the ethos of staff wellbeing at Santa Maria. Beyond nourishing us with delicious fare, this initiative promotes a sense of belonging and support among staff members. By carving out dedicated time for socialising and relaxation, we acknowledge the importance of work-life balance and prioritise the cultivation of a positive, inclusive work culture.

As we continue to navigate the challenges and triumphs of the academic year, we take comfort in the knowledge that, rain or shine, there will always be a place at the table for friendship, fellowship, and, of course, tacos.
