Sarah’s Story: From Santa Maria College to the Fast Lane
Since graduating from Santa Maria College, Sarah Kenny has been on a remarkable journey that has taken her from school here in Attadale to California and now to the bustling streets of Melbourne. With a passion for sports and communication, Sarah has carved out a successful career in the motorsports industry, where she now serves as the PR and Communications Manager at Grove Racing.
Sarah’s journey began after graduating from Santa Maria College in 2015. Eager to pursue her dreams, she ventured overseas to Los Angeles, where she secured a soccer scholarship at California Baptist University. Her talent and dedication then led her to Daemen University in New York, where she not only excelled in soccer but also received offers for a tennis scholarship. As the team captain of the university’s soccer team, Sarah led them to the NCAA championships for the first time in the program’s history while simultaneously graduating with honours and joining the Honours Society at Daemen University and joining the Sigma Beta Delta Chapter.
After completing her education, Sarah returned to Melbourne and began her career at Crown Resorts, where she oversaw internal communications operations across properties in Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth. In December 2023, she transitioned into her new role at Grove Racing, where she combines her passion for storytelling and connecting with people in the fast-paced world of motorsports.
At Grove Racing, Sarah thrives in the adrenaline-fueled atmosphere, where every moment counts, and quick decision-making is essential. Her typical workday involves crafting press releases, managing media relations, coordinating events, and engaging with fans and sponsors. With 12 rounds of racing events across Australia and New Zealand, including iconic races like the Bathurst 1000, Sarah’s role is pivotal in shaping the team’s public image and success on the track.
Looking ahead, Sarah is excited about the possibilities for growth and making a meaningful impact in the sports industry. Whether it’s in motorsports or other sports, she is committed to blending her passion for communication with her love for sports.
Despite her demanding career, Sarah understands the importance of work-life balance. She prioritises tasks effectively, sets boundaries, and carves out time for self-care and relaxation. Outside of work, she enjoys playing AFL, cooking, photography, and travelling, which allows her to explore new cultures and landscapes.
Sarah’s journey from Santa Maria to Grove Racing is a testament to her passion, determination, and hard work. As she continues to make strides in her career, she remains grounded in her values and committed to making a difference both on and off the track.
