This week, as part of our ‘Meet the Coaches’ series, we introduce you to two of our cheerleading coaches, Anna Barkla and Maddie Oudman.
Throughout the school year, the Santa Maria College cheerleading teams Gravity and Supernova have been training hard in the lead up to the annual Aussie Gold International Cheer and Dance Championships on the Gold Coast, Queensland.
Nearly 70 girls competed at the AASCF State Cheerleading Championships on Saturday at HBF Stadium. The College had four teams compete with students from Years 5 – 12. It was a great day and the girls had a lot of fun and performed amazing routines in very competitive divisions.
Our three Santa Maria cheerleading teams competed at HBF Stadium on the weekend. Just under 50 of our girls competed across three divisions in the Aussie Gold Cheerleading Championships.
Congratulations to Alyssa Matthes (Year 5), Alissa Di Filippo (Year 7), Alice D’Amico (Year 9), Chloe Farano (Year 8), Ella Sullivan (Year 6) , Amelia Craddock (Year 10), Madi Gibbs (Year 8) and Brenna Pope (Year 10), who recently won a bid to compete at the World Cheerleading Championships in Florida.
On Sunday afternoon, about 60 Santa Maria girls competed at the Cheer Unlimited Australia (CUA) Stars N Stripes Championships at HBF Stadium. The girls had an amazing afternoon and came away with wins in all categories.
On Saturday 2 September, two of our competitive cheerleading teams the SMC Comets (Level 2) and SMC Gravity (Level 1) competed at the Australian All Star Cheerleading Federation (AASCF) State Championships at HBF Arena. Both teams have worked tirelessly to perfect and upgrade their routines in just five weeks. The girls in both teams were highly committed to creating their amazing routines.
The SMC Comets (Level 2) and SMC Gravity (Level 1) cheerleading teams competed at the Cheer Unlimited Australia (CUA) Rock N Cheer Championships at HBF Arena.
