Invisible Forces: Year 12 Art Camp
The theme for this year’s Year 12 Art Camp was ‘Invisible Forces’. Fairbridge Village proved to be the perfect venue, staying in the historical Fairbridge House, it was suitably scary and atmospheric particularly during the stormy weather over the weekend!
The girls participated in a variety of sessions, one being a collaborative task to create ‘Wings of Wonder’. Another task involved photoshoots, using props provided, the surrounding settings, and being inspired by photographer Tim Walker. The students utilised both the interior and exterior of the house to create some fantastic photos.
Visual Arts Captain, Lucy Kilroe said, “It was nice being in a rural setting and I enjoyed the intense silence experienced when we were all engrossed in the moment, detached from our normal environment”.
The students’ work will be on display in the Mercy Gallery this week.
The Value of Student Voice – Jennifer Oaten
“At Santa Maria College, we are not only given the opportunity, but we are encouraged by our teachers and each other to voice our opinions, concerns and ideas—to continue moving forward as a school and as a community. Student voice is integral for growth, and allows for us, as students to have an active role in shaping our education.”
