Year 12 Urban Geography Field Trip

As part of their ATAR Geography course, Year 12 Geographers travelled to various parts of Perth to research several challenges facing Perth’s planners.

In particular, the group looked at the growth of our southern suburbs, especially in relation to Cockburn Central as a transit-oriented development, the Canning Bridge Activity Centre, the redevelopment of East Perth and the impact of the City Link.

Challenges we discovered included urban sprawl, housing, transport congestion and employment. In their work in East Perth, the students were guided by Jake Schapper, lecturer in Urban and Regional Planning at Curtin University.
