Chorale Concert 2023

The annual Chorale Concert is a beautiful night, where students showcase their singing talents for family and friends and have the opportunity to demonstrate the fruit of their hard work and commitment throughout this term.

The evening consisted of performances from Years 5 & 6, 7 & 8, 9 & 10, 11 & 12 choirs, as well as the auditioned AcaMaria’s vocal group. The girls entertained the audience with a range of contemporary and popular songs.

The Chorale Concert is the culmination of weekly rehearsals since the beginning of the year, where students spend their time learning, practising and preparing their songs for the end of term performance.

We spoke to Paul Kinsella, Head of Music, to find out what benefit concerts have for choirs and his highlight of the night.

What is the benefit of concerts for choirs and students?
Performances are the culmination of a rehearsal schedule and give the students a sense of accomplishment, personal satisfaction and the chance to share their talents with others. It also teaches them to be resilient under performance pressure in front of 600 students, friends and parents.

What was a highlight of the concert?
The AcaMaria’s did a wonderful job with their blend of beautiful harmonies performed without accompaniment, under the direction of Jessica Del Borrello.

Have a watch – below is a snippet of the Years 11 and 12 performance, conducted by Music Captain, Ciara Smithies.

Well done girls! You should all be immensely proud of your wonderful performance, as well as your efforts in rehearsals throughout the term.

Student voice is integral for growth, and allows for us, as students to have an active role in shaping our education.”
