Students Take on the Role of Educators
As part of the Year 9 Marine Science elective program, students were given free rein to develop a lesson of their choice on a marine science topic that interests them.
The girls needed to include key learning objectives, resources and assessment tasks to ensure their goals were met.Â
Last week, the girls delivered their lessons to small groups of Year 7s and this week, showcased their findings to our Year 7s.Â
The girls did a fantastic job as ‘teachers for the day’, showcasing exciting and creative lessons. The activity was an excellent example of how the girls connect learning to life.
The Value of Student Voice – Jennifer Oaten
“At Santa Maria College, we are not only given the opportunity, but we are encouraged by our teachers and each other to voice our opinions, concerns and ideas—to continue moving forward as a school and as a community. Student voice is integral for growth, and allows for us, as students to have an active role in shaping our education.”
Shining a Spotlight on Our Student Ministry Team
