Vinnies Symbolise Their Commitment
The Vinnies co-curricular service group haven’t been able to gather as a whole group this year. The Years 10 – 12 students have been able to meet; however, due to COVID restrictions and the number of girls involved, the group cannot meet with the Years 7 – 9 members.
So, to make the younger girls feel involved and engaged, Vinnie’s leaders created welcome packs for each of its Years 7 – 9 members. The packs contained letters, an activity, and a sweet treat and were delivered to the girls via Homerooms.
To welcome new and returning members, and to build the Vinnies community, despite these restrictions, Vinnie’s leaders created a fun introductory activity for everyone to take part in (Years 10 – 12 in person, and the younger girls through their welcome packs). The activity draws inspiration from the St Vincent de Paul’s logo. The girls wrote their names bold and colourful in the space intended for ‘the hand of love offering the cup’.
This will symbolise their commitment to serving others and to the Vinnies service group this year. Every Vinnies member from Years 7 – 12 will contribute. These ‘hands’ have been pinned up on the new Vinnies noticeboard in the Plaza to display our wonderful community here at Santa Maria College.
