Academic Triathlon – McAuley Shield
In this exciting Interhouse event, teams of intellectual heavyweights from each Homeroom will battle it out against the other Houses for the coveted title of the ‘Smartest House in the School.’
There are three events held during Term 4 in Pastoral Care time – a spelling bee, a general knowledge quiz and maths games. This week, Years 5 – 8 students participated in the spelling bee while the Years 9 and 10 students participated in the general knowledge quiz.
Students representing each House competed, with their scores going towards the 2020 McAuley Shield. The quiz consisted of four rounds which included science, humanities, pop culture and questions from the options subjects.

It is no secret that attention spans have been steadily declining, especially among younger generations growing up immersed in digital technology. The average person’s attention span when using a digital device has plummeted from around two and a half minutes back in 2004 to just 47 seconds on average today – a dramatic 66% decrease over the past two decades.
