Atwell Art Award Winners

We are very pleased to announce that five Santa Maria students received awards at the Atwell Youth Art Awards announced last night, Thursday 16 June.

We are very proud of all of our participants. Their entries showed amazing creativity, versatility, and hard work!

The award recipients are:

Congratulations, girls!

Atwell House is organised and run by a community and volunteer task force in Alfred Cove. The youth exhibition is a highlight of the annual school competitions and is inclusive of all year levels and mediums. Atwell holds Art based events, classes, and exhibitions throughout the year. Prizes are generously donated by Jackson’s Art Supplies. 

The exhibition, including our participants from Years 7 – 12s, can be viewed until Wednesday 22 June. The gallery is open Monday to Thursday from 10.00 am – 5.00 pm and Friday to Sunday from 10.00 am – 4.00 pm at 586 Canning Highway, Alfred Cove.

Combating The Attention Span Crisis In Our Students – Jennifer Oaten

It is no secret that attention spans have been steadily declining, especially among younger generations growing up immersed in digital technology. The average person’s attention span when using a digital device has plummeted from around two and a half minutes back in 2004 to just 47 seconds on average today – a dramatic 66% decrease over the past two decades.
