Celebrating Academic Excellence: Achievers’ Club Honours Top-Achieving Students

This week, an impressive gathering of 168 girls from Years 8 – 12 came together for the Achievers’ Club lunches, commemorating and applauding their exceptional efforts during Semester 1, 2023.

The lunches are a tribute to students who embodyour Mercy value of Excellence and have consistently upheld impeccable academic standards. This tradition occurs after each semester, providing a platform to recognise academic brilliance.

Jennifer Oaten, Principal, and Simone Sawiris, Deputy Principal, Teaching & Learning, addressed the gathering of young achievers and extended heartfelt congratulations for their outstanding academic accomplishments. Each member of the Achievers’ Club was presented with a well-deserved certificate of recognition.

2023 Academic Captain, Sophia Marra, also said a few words, praising their resilience in the face of challenges and emphasising the importance of supporting and uplifting one another.

Participation in the Achievers’ Club is a powerful motivator, inspiring students to strive for excellence and acknowledging the significance of sustained hard work and dedication.

This event, which honours and celebrates the academic triumphs of these students, serves as a compelling reminder of the value of education, fostering a lifelong passion for learning.

It is no secret that attention spans have been steadily declining, especially among younger generations growing up immersed in digital technology. The average person’s attention span when using a digital device has plummeted from around two and a half minutes back in 2004 to just 47 seconds on average today – a dramatic 66% decrease over the past two decades.
