Congratulations Grace

Congratulations Grace

Congratulations to Grace Foster (Year 10) who has had an amazing year of basketball. Grace was selected to try out for Perth Lynx, the WA league team, as a development player. She is the youngest of 14 girls trying out for the squad. To finish off her season, Grace won WABL Female Player of the Year. She backed this up with her team winning their Grand Final and Grace being awarded the MVP.

How long have you been playing basketball?

I have been playing for eight years.

What club do you play for?

I play for the Willetton Tigers

What has been a highlight of your basketball so far?

This whole year has been a highlight. Going to the U18 national tournament earlier this year, our NBL1 team winning the Grand Final and also my WABL team winning the Grand Final. At that presentation, I was also awarded the WABL female player of the year.

What do you love most about the game?

The adrenaline rush that I get when I play, and all the friends I make along the way.

Is there a player you look up to, who is an inspiration for you?

Yes! Alex Sharp. She was in the Willetton NBL1 team this season and represented Australia.

How did you come to be selected to try out for Lynx?

The Perth Lynx asked players to apply for the position. They then selected a small group to trial, and I was fortunate enough to be part of this group.

What will this mean for you next year?

Lots more basketball. Training more and training harder.

From the Willetton Tigers, Grace Foster was named Female WABL Player of the Year. The 175cm guard was a key contributor for the Tigers Blue Under 18 Girls Championship team, helping them finish as minor premiers and winning the Grand Final, with Foster collecting grand final MVP honours. She was a regular member of the Tigers White WABL Championship Women’s team and made her debut in the NBL1 West. In her fourth NBL1 appearance, she had 25 points and nine rebounds against the South West Slammers. Foster was also a member of the U18 Metro girls state team.  Source: the WABL website
