Embracing Diversity: Languages Day 2023
In a colourful and vibrant event, our community came together once again to celebrate the languages and cultures that enrich our lives.
Our annual Languages Day, held with much excitement, offered a variety of exciting activities, that left the College community with a deeper appreciation for linguistic diversity.
This year our focus was on a variety of cultural activities. We had some games for students to participate in during recess and lunch, including ‘pin the tail’ on the French and/or Italian region, ‘complete a puzzle in a minute’, and a ‘guess the location’ photo competition.
Students also danced along to French and Italian music, enjoyed face painting, made bracelets, and had some fun colouring in, putting their artistic skills to the test.
We even had food tastings on offer, which included a selection of French and Italian cheeses and some bread with balsamic vinegar and EVOO. Students also lined up to have a photo or two in our Instagram photo frame, which proved to be a popular choice!
Our staff and senior students had the opportunity to dress up in costumes, and they certainly did not disappoint.
All the activities were a huge hit. We would like to thank the students who helped organise and run the various activities. Here’s to next year’s celebration!

Combating The Attention Span Crisis In Our Students – Jennifer Oaten
It is no secret that attention spans have been steadily declining, especially among younger generations growing up immersed in digital technology. The average person’s attention span when using a digital device has plummeted from around two and a half minutes back in 2004 to just 47 seconds on average today – a dramatic 66% decrease over the past two decades.
