From The Principal – Development of the Santa Maria College Master Plan

Santa Maria College Strategic Plan one of our focus areas is to complete the following objective:

  • In consultation with community members, prepare a Master Plan and a staged Capital Development Plan with financial modelling.

To ensure we achieve a practical and creative master plan we are using the Design Thinking process. This process will be focusing on these three stages -understand, explore and materialise. To ensure this process is inclusive our stakeholder group will consist of students, parents and staff.

THE PROCESS

Workshop 1

Workshop one will focus on developing an understanding of our current site from the perspective of our whole community.

Survey

Later in this term all parents, staff and students, will be invited to complete a survey which will give everyone the opportunity for, suggestions and big ideas.

Workshop 2

The second workshop with our stakeholder groups will take place following the survey.  This workshop focus will be to investigate Learning.

We are underway…..

This week our student group met with our Architects to begin conversations about what to expect during the consultation process. The students were asked to take photographs around the College based on the idea of the College as a Place. I am extremely delighted with our students’ enthusiasm to be involved with this project.

I am thoroughly enjoying being a part of the development of the new Master Plan for Santa Maria College, and I look forward to seeing the outcome. I encourage you all to be a part of this process.
