Students Enjoy A Day Of Snorkelling At Rottnest
Our five, Year 9 Recreational Studies classes recently visited Rottnest Island for the annual snorkelling excursion. The girls were divided into eight groups to cover the whole island and explore the different bays Rottnest has to offer. The snorkelling program runs in Term 1 and Term 4 in Year 9 Recreational Studies and the girls learn skills to snorkel safely and effectively in a number of different environments. The excursion gave the girls the opportunity to apply the skills they had learnt in class to a real-life setting.
Although the sun was being shy that day, it did not stop the girls from diving straight into the crystal blue water. Everyone involved in the day had an amazing experience and the staff and parents were impressed with how eager the girls were to participate in all activities. The teachers and parent supervisors praised the students for how well they represented the College off campus and how well they respected the island.
Here is what some of the girls had to say about the day.
“Although it was cold, I had a blast of a day filled with awesome adventures and memories that will last forever.” – Bianca Zoiti
“It was a really great experience and I was grateful that my Dad could come along as a parent supervisor. We had an amazing day exploring the island.” – Paige Tiller
“Although the weather was a little chilly, I had a fantastic time with my friends and explored places that I had never been before. I also found a new love for snorkelling and now have the confidence to do it more independently.” – Isabella Weston
