Students Receive Long Tan Award

Congratulations to Eireann Robertson, Year 10 and Isi Ogwu, Year 12, who today were awarded the Australian Defence Force Long Tan Youth Leadership and Teamwork Award.

The award recognises students who demonstrate leadership and teamwork within both the school and the broader community and who display strong values, such as doing one’s best, respect for others and mateship, qualities that are integral to Australian society. The award was presented to the girls by Principal, Jennifer Oaten, at the Mercy Day Assembly.

It is no secret that attention spans have been steadily declining, especially among younger generations growing up immersed in digital technology. The average person’s attention span when using a digital device has plummeted from around two and a half minutes back in 2004 to just 47 seconds on average today – a dramatic 66% decrease over the past two decades.
