Sport
SPORT HAS ALWAYS PLAYED A SIGNIFICANT PART IN THE LIFE OF SANTA MARIA GIRLS. REGARDLESS OF YOUR DAUGHTER’S EXPERIENCE OR PERFORMANCE LEVEL, EACH GIRL CAN PARTICIPATE IN OUR SPORTING PROGRAM.
SPORTING PROGRAM
Girls will be challenged and encouraged to achieve their personal best. Our dedicated coaches will ensure that your daughter’s enthusiasm, passion and dedication are always well supported.
Santa Maria College participates in JIGSSA and IGSSA (Independent Girls’ Schools Sport Association) competitions which are held throughout the year. The IGSSA calendar offers a diverse range of sports for girls, ranging from netball, soccer, softball, tennis, water polo, hockey, volleyball, cricket, basketball, athletics, cross country and swimming.  We take part in an interschool competition for Australian Rules Football and we offer cheerleading from Year 5.
OUTDOOR EDUCATION
A lot of our greatest life lessons come from experiences we have outside the confines of a classroom. At Santa Maria College we believe in challenging our students physically and mentally to show them how capable they really are. Our Recreational Studies and Outdoor Education programs offer amazing opportunities for girls in a range of activities.
In Year 9 Recreational Studies girls are spoilt with our river-side location and study canoeing. They also study snorkelling in a course that culminates in a Rottnest excursion. In our Years 10 to 12 Outdoor Education programs the girls complete their Recreational Boating License, learn to surf, go fishing and bushwalking and even do a sea trek sailing, and camping in the beautiful Shark Bay region of the state.
IT’S NOT THE TEAM WITH THE BEST PLAYERS THAT WIN. IT’S THE PLAYERS WITH THE BEST TEAM THAT WINS
