Year 7 students Zara Worthington and Siena Antonas are the powerhouses behind Roxstar Dog and their story is the latest in our student entrepreneur’s series.
What is your business?
Our business is called Roxstar Dog. We sell dog blankets, bandannas, fleece pull toys, and other accessories.
How long have you had your business?
We started in 2019.
Why did you start your business?
We started our business because we both had dogs and wanted to create something for them, and then we decided to sell them.
What challenges have you had to overcome?
Finding fabric has been a challenge especially during COVID.
How do you sell your blankets and bandannas?
We advertise them online and get orders.
Can people shop from you and how do they get in touch?
We have an Instagram page, people can message us and then we arrange a day for them to collect their order.
What is the best thing about having your own business?
It is good because we get to see all the things we make go to good places
What is one thing you’ve learnt since having your business?
We’ve learned how to make the products we make, and we’ve learned how to sew properly on a sewing machine.

It is no secret that attention spans have been steadily declining, especially among younger generations growing up immersed in digital technology. The average person’s attention span when using a digital device has plummeted from around two and a half minutes back in 2004 to just 47 seconds on average today – a dramatic 66% decrease over the past two decades.
