Thank You Primary Teachers

At the last Year 6 leaders meeting, the Year 6 students wanted to do something to acknowledge the tremendous support and work the classroom teachers did during online learning. They were very insightful about what the teachers had done and even acknowledged that many of them had their own children at home at the same time.

The girls decided that each House leader would make a card for the primary House teacher and then present it with a bar of chocolate at the in-class assembly last Friday.

Here are some of the beautiful messages:

Dear Mrs Ryan

On behalf of the student leaders, we would like to thank you for all the effort that you put into helping us with online school. Thank you for being so supportive and understanding, we really appreciate everything you do for us and the whole of primary school.

To Ms Price

On behalf of all Years 5 & 6, we’d like to thank you for your time, hard work and dedication. You have greatly and positively impacted our lives and improved us all tremendously. You are always there to provide help when it’s needed and are always ready to guide us. You constantly help us understand when we are struggling, and help us on our journey to become progressive, capable women. You constantly push us, until it’s almost impossible to do so anymore, yet somehow, you always find a way to make us even better versions of ourselves. You are not only a teacher, but you are a mentor, guiding us and showing us the way. We want to thank you for showing us what we can do and be. Thank you for putting in time and effort to make the learning fun. But it is not only in schoolwork in which you have helped us; you are always supporting us, a force that keeps us going. We are so lucky to have you in our lives, and we just wouldn’t be the same if you weren’t. You are tremendously appreciated by all of us. Thank you for showing compassion towards us and helping us strive for excellence.

On behalf of the Primary school, I would like to thank you for being so supportive to everyone throughout the challenging period of online learning.

It was very heartfelt of you to be so considerate and helpful during this time. Thank you once again on behalf of all the primary school students.

On behalf of all Years 5 and 6 students we would love to say thank you for all your hard work and dedication to helping work through the online learning program. Everyone admires and is very thankful for all your fantastic work during this time. All of the primary school is extremely grateful to have you as a teacher!

To Mrs Stockton

On behalf of Years 5 & 6 O’Donnell we would like to thank you for all of the hard work you have done. Especially in this pandemic and we can’t imagine how difficult it was to teach remote learning. This would have also been challenging because of all the technical difficulties.

You have been so amazing and helpful to everyone and in PCT and whenever we see you, you have a smile on your face and that makes everyone around feel the same way. You fill us with happiness which spreads. You have helped us so much and that is why we are all so grateful for having you at Santa Maria this year.

The class teachers were very touched by the gesture, especially as it was initiated by the girls.

Combating The Attention Span Crisis In Our Students – Jennifer Oaten

It is no secret that attention spans have been steadily declining, especially among younger generations growing up immersed in digital technology. The average person’s attention span when using a digital device has plummeted from around two and a half minutes back in 2004 to just 47 seconds on average today – a dramatic 66% decrease over the past two decades.
