Weekly Wrap Up – Term 1, Week 6
The week at Santa Maria College was filled with vibrant learning, service and celebration, as students embraced opportunities both inside and beyond the classroom. From exploring science and preparing meals for those in need, to recognising the strength and contributions of women in our community, the College was alive with energy and purpose. Each experience reflected the spirit of collaboration, curiosity and compassion that shapes life at Santa Maria.
Weekly Wrap Up Items
Cookups: Students once again demonstrated their commitment to service through Cookups, preparing a delicious curry to support those in need. The meals were delivered to The Shopfront in Bentley, an organisation that provides practical assistance to vulnerable members of the community. This initiative continues to be a meaningful way for students to live out the College values of compassion and service.
Years 5 & 6 Little Legends in Lab Coats: Our budding scientists returned to the lab for this engaging after-school co-curricular activity designed especially for Years 5 and 6 students. Participants explored scientific concepts more deeply while gaining hands-on experience with specialised equipment and experiments. The program continues to spark curiosity and inspire a love of discovery among our young learners.
International Women’s Day: The College community came together to celebrate International Women’s Day through a range of meaningful student-led activities. Initiatives included Ribbons for Provisions (R4P), a bake sale and interactive activities in PCT, where students designed superheroes representing their personal strengths and participated in peer recognition moments that celebrated and affirmed one another. Adding to the celebrations, the SMC IGSSA Volleyball team took on staff in a spirited lunchtime match, bringing plenty of energy and friendly competition to the day.
Year 5 Insect Art: Our Year 5 students showcased their creativity and attention to detail through their vibrant insect-inspired artworks.
