Year 12 Design Students Get Hands On With Ceramic Workshop
Year 12 Design students were invited to participate in a ceramic painting workshop as the first of their Year 12 Design Encounter Days. The workshop was delivered by Sharnah and Charissa, the design duo behind Chimerical Homewares. Chimerical Homewares is a local business creating one of a kind ceramic creations, utilising bright colours and abstract shapes.
Sharnah and Charissa shared their insights with the students about starting a business from scratch. The girls learned about using underglazes to create beautiful surfaces on ceramic pieces and went through the design process. They started with sketching and simplifying objects of interest to them and then sketched them onto plates and mugs before mixing glazes and painting them on. Their beautiful pieces were then taken away to be fired. The girls can’t wait to see the final results.
It was a really creative and rewarding day!Â
